Ein Artikel über das Projekt einer schwedischen Filmemacherin, die einen Film mit der Mutter der ersten weiblichen Selbstmordattentäterin 2002, einer 18jährigen palästinensische jungen Frau, wie auch der Mutter des einzigen Opfers, einer fast gleichaltrigen jungen jüdischen Israelin,drehen wollte, war der Ausgangspunkt für Adidal Abou-Chamats Videoarbeit. Das Projekt der schwedischen Filmemacherin lehnten beide Mütter ab, da sie nicht gemeinsam in einem Film mitmachen wollten. Die Künstlerin drehte einen fiktionalen Film mit 2 Schauspielerinnen als Darstellerin der Täterin und des Opfers. Aus dem Off kommt alternierend auf arabisch und hebräisch, mit Untertiteln unterlegt, ein fiktionaler monologisierender Text der jeweiligen Mutter über Trauer, Trauma, Verlust ,Schmerz, Hoffnung, Versuche der Bewältigung des Verlusts, Gewalt und Krieg etc.
The video is about the first female suicide bomber in 2002. A bomb attack was carried out by a young Palestinian woman in a Jerusalem Supermarket: the only other victim beside herself was a young Jewish woman of the same age. A Swedish filmmaker wanted to make a film with the mothers of the Palestinian and the Jewish woman, but they refused to participate. In this video 2 actresses play the role of the two young women. The voice off is a fictional text; an inner monologue of the mother of the assassin in Arabic, alternating with an inner monologue of the victim`s mother in Hebrew. Both talk about their grief, the trauma of loss, their hopes, the way in which they deal with it, forgiveness, desperation, the continuing spiral of violence.
